The geographical diversity of the National Park of Chapada Diamantina (Diamond Highlands) will surprise people of all ages, as it offers unique, once in a lifetime experiences. The colours of the forests range from emerald to jade green, in contrast with the bright orange of the dirt roads. Only an hour away, you discover a complex mosaic of ecosystems — from jungle and swamps, to high rock peaks. This part of Brazil is often compared to the Colorado Mountains, only greener. And wilder: you are as likely to come upon a string of clear transparent turquoise pools as you are to discover pristine rivers and streams the colour of Earl Grey tea! Incredible waterfalls of all sizes provide an unforgettable spectacle.
For trekkers, whether beginners or advanced, the Chapada Diamantina is a favourite destination, but it is also a natural attraction park for cave lovers, particularly the region of Iraquara, only one hour away from Lençois. There, one can explore hundreds of quartzite’s caves, some as large as cathedrals, like at the wonderful Lapa Doce cave, others forming strange sculpture gardens, such as the exceptional Torrinha cavern. Most famous are its unique Aragonita Flower and its Gypsy Needle. Prehistoric paintings can be seen at the entrance of the cave, making the visit an exciting journey back in time.
All of the excursions can be organized for you.
